Two Long Beach Middle Schools kept up the great season they’ve been having with All-City Championships in girls’ track over the weekend, as Cubberley won the Division II Title while Stanford took the Division I Title.  The Cubberley girls already won the Div. II Title in girls’ volleyball and basketball, so the track title makes it 3 in a row for the Lady Cubs.  Stanford scored their 2nd All-City Title in less than five days as the Stanford boys took the Basketball Title over the previous weekend.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Division I highlights include Stanford’s Ariana Washington’s triple wins in the Long Jump (16′ 9), 100M & 200M.  <\/span>Teammate Sammy Reinhart soared 4′ 7 to win the H.J. while several Stanford Hawks chipped in with well-rounded scoring.  <\/span>Hughes got their licks in as Jessica Gonzales won both the 800M & 1600M while teammate Catrina Lloyd-Rodriguez captured the Shot Put title.  <\/span>Hughes won both the relays, but Stanford was not far behind finishing 2nd to balance off the scoring.  <\/span>DeMille’s Mariah Dougan won the 400M as we say good-bye to long-time DeMille coach, Maggie Del Rio.  <\/span>DeMille will be closing at the end of the year, taking with them several decades of outstanding sports competition.<\/p>\n

In Division II competition, Grace Schmidt-Beck led the way for Cubberley with an awesome win in the   <\/span>Shot Put (29′ 3) while teammate Katelyn Davis went 4′ 9 to win the High Jump!  <\/span>Cubberley’s Michaela Andrade took the 400M and also anchored the Cubs’ championship Mile Relay team! Newcomb edged  <\/span>out Lindsey for the Runner-Up spot as the Spartan’s Laura Lacomb won the 800M while teammate  <\/span>Amaris Sherlock won the 200M.  <\/span>Lindsey’s Melanee Williams took the 100M and anchored the Falcon’s championship 4 X 100M Relay team.  <\/span>Teammate Flower Wideman won the L.J. while Monroe’s Kathy Carmona took the 1600M.  <\/span><\/p>\n
