It’s a bit of a hike out to Los Osos in Rancho Cucamonga, but Poly’s boys’ basketball team would drive much, much further for what’s at stake\u2014a win would mean a second straight trip to the CIF Semifinals.  <\/span>Standing in the way of the no. 2-seeded Rabbits, is the no. 11-seeded Los Osos Grizzlies, no pushover despite the differential in seeding.<\/p>\n

The 20-8 Grizzlies are the four-seed from the Baseline League\u2014but all three teams that finished above them are in a CIF quarterfinal game.  <\/span>They feature a trio of prolific scorers, as Kendall Williams, Khalil Kelley, and Chinedu Amajoyi average 50 points a game between them\u2014the Grizzlies are used to winning high-scoring games, so Poly’s stifling, aggressive defense should be a boon to the Rabbits.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Williams is the most dangerous scorer, a point guard averaging 22 points a game, who’s also a threat on the offensive glass.  <\/span>Amajoyi is averaging 13 points at the other guard position.  <\/span>How Poly’s evening goes may come down to how well Ryan Anderson, Roshcon Prince, and Shelton Boykin do in flummoxing Kelley, a 6’9″ senior averaging 14 points and nine rebounds.  <\/span>In addition to their defense, team height should be a boost to the Rabbits, as Kelley is the only Grizzlies player listed at taller than 6’3″, while Poly has five.<\/o:p><\/p>\n
