Cabrillo’s boys’ soccer tilt with Santa Monica was originally scheduled for Monday, but when a mix-up with scheduling referees forced Santa Monica to head back north, the game was rescheduled for Tuesday, this time at Santa Monica’s turf field. <\/span>The result? Bad luck for the previously unbeaten Jags, who dominated possession and outshot Santa Monica 17-3\u2026but couldn’t find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss that drops their record to <\/span>4-1-1.<\/p>\n Play was disjointed on the turf, with balls bouncing off players’ feet, but the Jags still maintained the majority of possession, outshooting SM 7-1 in the first half. They held the ball well for the first twenty minutes of the second, but gave up the game’s deciding goal on a counter when Juan Pavon beat Rigo Luna down the left wing, crossing to an onrushing Stephen Patterson, who brushed by Gabriel Borja to finish with a <\/span>bullet to the net.
