The Long Beach State men’s volleyball team will kick off its much anticipated season this Sunday in the ‘Myd with the team’s annual Randy Sandefur Alumni Game. The game starts at 2pm and if you are reading this, you can get involved one way or another.<\/p>\n

The alumni will battle this year’s 49er team in a best two out of three match followed by the ever popular and always entertaining alumni vs. alumni game.<\/p>\n

“The list of returning players keeps growing every day,” interim head coach\u00a0Andy Read<\/a>\u00a0said. “So it looks like it is going to be another great turnout and a day fans of 49er men’s volleyball won’t want to miss.”<\/p>\n

The returning LBSU team will be highlighted by returning first-team All-America pick Dean Bitter<\/a>, a candidate for national player of the year in 2010. The Beach also returns 2008 first-team All-American\u00a0Dan Alexander<\/a>, as well as starters\u00a0Mike Klipsch<\/a>,\u00a0Jim Baughman<\/a>,Tommy Pestolesi<\/a>,\u00a0Kyle Friend<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Josh Riley<\/a>. A number of 49er newcomers round out the roster and should contribute to what should be a very successful LBSU team.<\/p>\n
