Golf: Freshman Hoey Leads Niners On Day One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartFragment-->  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Long Beach State women\u2019s golf made its 2009-10 season debut Monday at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic hosted by Colorado State. &nbsp;The 49ers were led by true freshman Simone Hoey as she finished the day tied for 16th place at the Ptarmigan Country Club. &nbsp;LBSU is currently tied with UTEP for 13th with a 26-over 602.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Idaho leads the field of 16 teams with an 11-under 568 as the Vandals hold a two-stroke lead over host Colorado State and four-strokes over third place Texas Tech.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Hoey, the younger sister of former 49er All-American Kay Hoey, carded an impressive three-under 69 with five birdies and two bogey\u2019s in the opening round as she finished tied for fourth. &nbsp;In the second round, Hoey recorded a three-over 75 as she fell to 17th.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Also, making her 49er debut was sophomore transfer Noelle Zavaleta (Boise State), who came in second for LBSU as she sits in a six-way tie for 28th. &nbsp;Zavaleta began the day tied for 44th after shooting a four-over 76 in the opening round, with five bogey\u2019s and one birdie. &nbsp;In the second round, Zavaleta recorded three birdies and two bogey\u2019s as she fired a one-under 71.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Junior Lindsey McAtee finished the day tied for 63rd with a 10-over 154. &nbsp;McAtee shot a six-over 78 in the opening round and came back in the second with a 74.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Senior Brenda Chhuor is currently tied for 73rd (157) and junior Reina Rogers is tied for 79th (161).<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Laura Anderson of Louisville sits on top of the leader board with a six-under 138 and holds a one-shot lead over Molly Black (Wyoming) and Kasey Claussen (Colorado State).<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">First-year head coach Joey Cerulle said,&nbsp;\u201cWe got off to a good start but fluttered down the stretch. &nbsp;None of our putts were falling. &nbsp;We held it together and plan on making a move tomorrow morning for the final round.\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Final round play concludes tomorrow at 7:30
