The Long Beach City College women\u2019s soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 non-conference loss to visiting Orange Coast College on Tuesday at LBCC.

The loss dropped the Vikings to 2-3 on the season while Orange Coast improved to 4-0.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

OCC was able to pull out the evenly matched contest. The Pirates narrowly edged LBCC in shots by an 18-15 margin.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

Taryn<\/span><\/span> Bales scored the game\u2019s lone goal for Orange Coast in the 58<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> minute. She took a long breakaway pass down the left side from Sarah Gomez and beat LBCC freshman goalkeeper Sara Thatcher for the game-winner.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n

The Vikings had chances of its own to get on the scoreboard. In the 52<\/span>nd<\/span><\/sup> minute, freshman forward Claudia Toledo\u2019s shot on a breakaway just missed the top left corner of the goal. Also, freshman forward <\/span>Ashlyn<\/span><\/span> Bolt\u2019s header in the 63rd minute just sailed above the crossbar.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Thatcher and OCC goalie Claudia <\/span>Airas<\/span><\/span> both posted seven saves.<\/span><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Long Beach returns to action on Friday when it hosts Citrus College in a non-conference game.<\/span><\/p>\n
