LBSU Athlete of the Week:<\/strong> Freshman Leigh Auth led the 49ers to their first undefeated tournament finish since hosting the LBSU Classic in 2008 (3-0) with a team-leading eight goals including a career-high five goals vs. Washington & Jefferson. Auth chipped in a pair of goals to help Long Beach State defeat No. 19 Michigan 11-8 and also had a goal in the 7-4 victory over host No. 11 Indiana.<\/p>\n

Softball (7-6) <\/strong>
at Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic <\/em>
Loss to No. 7 Tennessee, 7-0 
Loss to No. 14 Arizona, 4-3 
Won vs. Oklahoma State, 3-1 
Won vs. UNLV, 7-2 
Won vs. Syracuse, 7-6 
–Trailing 6-1 and down to their final out in the bottom of the seventh, the 49ers rallied and won the game after a walk-off grand slam by Ashley Holmes<\/p>\n

Women’s Basketball (14-12, 7-7 Big West) <\/strong>
Lost at UC Irvine, 65-57 
–Sophomore Alex Sanchez had a game-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.<\/p>\n

Women’s Tennis (8-2, 4-0 Big West) <\/strong>
Won at UNC Greensboro, 6-1 
Won at Wake Forest, 4-3 
Lost at NC State, 6-1 
–Senior Sarah Cantlay won all of her singles matches at the No. 3 spot on the North Carolina road trip, improving her singles record to 8-2 in dual match play<\/p>\n

No. 10 Women’s Water Polo (8-2, 0-0 Big West) <\/strong>
at Fluid Four <\/em>
Won vs. No. 19 Michigan 11-8 
Won vs. No. 11 Indiana 7-4 
Won vs. Washington & Jefferson 19-3

–Jeff McNeil has hit safely in all eight games for Long Beach State in 2013, and currently has a nine-game hitting streak.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Basketball (17-10, 3-2) <\/strong>
Won vs. UC Davis, 71-65 
Lost vs. Stephen F. Austin (Bracketbuster) 
–Keala King scored a season-high 22 points to help the 49ers win after overcoming a 9-point halftime deficit 
–Mike Caffey scored a career and team-high 24 points in LBSU\u2019s loss to Stephen F. Austin.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Golf <\/strong>
at Folino Invitational presented by Southern California AAA <\/em>
–49ers win team title for second consecutive year by four shots over second-place UC Irvine. 
–Freshman Daniel Chian tied for fourth with an even-216.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Volleyball (12-4, 10-3 MPSF) <\/strong>
Won at #8 Cal State Northridge, 3-1 
–Junior Taylor Crabb led the 49ers to their fourth-straight win with a match-high 22 kills.<\/p>\n

Track & Field <\/strong>
at MPSF Indoor Championships <\/em>
Men \u2013 11th; Women \u2013 14th 
–Freshman Willie Alexander topped his own school record in the long jump with a leap of 25-00 in just his second collegiate meet. <\/p>\n
