Last Saturday at Wilson High School, Long Beach’s middle school soccer champions were crowned—yesterday we brought you the story of the two girls’ champions, and today, the boys!<\/span><\/p>\n Boys’ Division 1: Jefferson 3, Washington 0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n The Division I Title Tilt came down to a pair of hard knocking Southern League teams who had met in the Season Opener….and threaded through the season in brilliant fashion…only to meet again in the Finale! <\/span>Jefferson opened the scoring on a Danny Herrera goal in Minute 15. <\/span>Washington’s back line of Jose Zelaya, Christian Alvarez, Miguel Orozco, Brian Alvarado & Goalie Brandon Martinez put up a steel curtain for the rest of the Half and Jefferson took in a narrow 1-0 Halftime lead. <\/span>Jefferson’s Danny Herrera opened the 2nd<\/sup> Half with another Jaguar goal while teammates Saul Becerra, Oscar Marrujo, Brandon Rodriguez & Brian Hernandez helped keep the offensive pressure on Washington. <\/span>The Patriots played valiantly and never gave up….however Jefferson’s Danny Herrera came up with a “hat trick” in the 59th<\/sup> Minute to put the game out of reach for the Jaguars.<\/span><\/p>\n Team members from Washington<\/b><\/span> include: Albino Martin, Alfredo Tellez, Miguel Orozco, Gaspar Canto, Javier Garcia, Edgar Hernandez, Israel Melgar, Javier Bernal, Mario Ramirez, Jose Zelaya; Coach Duty, Oscar Turrubiates, Brian Alvarado, Victor Alvarez, Juan Munoz, Brandon Martinez, Christian Alvarez, Francisco Jimenez, Ivan Galeana, Ivan Torres, Eduardo Ayala, Raul Paz, Coach Scott.<\/span><\/p>\n Team members from Jefferson<\/b><\/span> include: Brian Hernandez, Saul Becerra, Oscar Marrujo, Eduardo Ciriaco, Ratanak Sok, Andres Garcia, Edgar Anda: Coach Rosales, Erick Vasquez, Javier Sandoval, Raul Landeros, Jose Martinez, Manuel Torres, Ramiro Huerta, Brandon Rodriguez, Danny Herrera, Coach Goodman.<\/span><\/p>\n Boys Division 2: Lindsey 3, Newcomb 1<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n <\/span>The Division II Boys’ Championship brought two League Champions together as undefeated Eastern League Champion Newcomb took on undefeated Western League Champion Lindsey. <\/span>Both teams exhibited superb defense with Lindsey taking in a narrow 1-0 halftime lead on the strength of a Willie Velasquez goal. <\/span>The match continued to be a see-saw battle until late in the game…until Falcon forward Jonathan Rangel knocked in a pair of goals for Lindsey to seemingly put the game away. <\/span>Newcomb refused to give up as Berndan Werstine scored to get the Spartans on the board, but Lindsey was in command and closed out with the 3-1 victory.<\/span><\/p>\n Team members for Newcomb include: Eric Wilsox, Brendan Werstine, Johnny Ramirez, Gama Mora, Steve Cortez; Andres Roman, Tanner Lopez, Nick Amyx, Luis Franco, Austin Naud; Coach Ennen, Michael Quinn, Brock Meckelborg, Michael Coulson, Nathan Kernik, Tyler Vaughn.<\/span><\/p>\n Team members for Lindsey include: Manny Correa, Alejandro Ortiz, Kevin Damian, William Sanchez, Alan Olivares, Jose Lucas, Juan Cantera, Francisco Olivares; Christian Aguilar, Jesse Hernandez, Mericio Menjevar, Jonathan Rangel, Willie Velasquez, William Luna, Leonardo Sanchez, Victor Rangel; Coach Martinez, Angel Jimenez, Victor Cruz, Alex Salazar, Carlos Gamino, Alberto Noriega, Josue Espinoza, Salvador Jimenez.<\/span><\/p>\n![](\"http:\/\/i304.photobucket.com\/albums\/nn191\/LBPOSTphotos\/LongBeachMiddleSchoolSoccerChamp-2.jpg\")
