Here’s a few pictures and the story of the girls’ soccer middle school championships—come back tomorrow for the boys’! <\/span><\/p>\n Division 1 Championship: Stanford 4, Bancroft 1<\/b><\/p>\n The Divison I Championship paired up the Southern League Champion Stanford Hawks against the Northern League Champion Bancroft Bruins. <\/span>Stanford came into the match as the luke-warm favorite as they have been in the title game each of the past 3 years…but Bancroft hadn’t read the paper as they blasted out of the gate on the wings of a Kristen DeJongh goal in Minute 9! <\/span>Bancroft’s back line of Rebecca Iglesias, Brittany Witts, Ashlee Lawton & Jaqueline Galbez put up a staunch defense and it wasn’t until Minute 26 that Stanford could answer back on a Shannon Shier goal. <\/span>Stanford scored again in the waning minutes of the first Half on an Alex Eggie shot to take a narrow 2-1 halftime lead. <\/span>The 2nd<\/sup> Half developed into a real battle as both teams saw scoring opportunities just miss! <\/span>However, the Big Red Stanford Offensive Machine of Katie Pratt Thompson, Shannon Shier, Ari Fernandez, Chloe Van Grootheest & Maegan Furr combined with a staunch Stanford defense of Cassady Farris, Sami Reinhard, Megan Estacio & Goal Keeper Sam Moreno to eventually wear the Bruins down. <\/span>Stanford’s Shannon Shier knocked in a pair of late goals to lift the Hawks to the final 4-1 victory.<\/p>\n Team members from Bancroft<\/b> include: Front (L-R) Melissa Snyder, Kristen DeJongh, Ashlee Lawton, Harlee Sturtevant, Michelle Mirglia, Selena Moore, Jamie Mayer, Kira Negrete, Jacqueline Galbez; Back (L-R): Coach Murry, Rachel Hokanson, Claudia Danese, Alexus Aviles, Jessica Reppucci, Kelsey Estes, Hailey Hause, Brittany Witts, Jocelyn Giron, Rebecca Iglesias, Coach Barisoff.<\/span><\/p>\n Team members from Stanford<\/b> include (picture up top): Front (L-R) Sierra Hancock, Imani McDonald, Jamie Gracie, Shoshana Reist, Niki Voulgaris, Shannon Shier, Sami Reinhard, Megan Maher; Middle (L-R): Alyssa Castillo, Megan Estacio, Maegan Furr, Sierra Skelly, Celeste Lau, Katie Pratt-Thompson, Ari Fernandez, Elizabeth Davis, Alex Eggie; Back (L-R): Coach Oates, Coach Shier, Chloe Gharios, Cassady Farris, Chloe Van Grootheest, Reilly Hayes, Claire Oates, Justine Albers, Sam Moreno, Coach Oates.<\/span><\/p>\n Division 2 Championship: Newcomb 2, Cubberley 0<\/b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n The Girls’ Division II Championship boiled down to a pair of arch-rival teams from the Eastern League as Cubberley & Newcomb had met in a frantic 1-point deficit game earlier in the season…and wound up in a rematch of last year’s Division II Championship!
