From LBSU reports<\/span><\/p>\n The Long Beach State track and field team wrapped up action at the two-day UCSD Triton Invitational in La Jolla on Saturday. Junior Colin Dunbar led the men, placing 14th in the hammer throw with an NCAA West Regional qualifying and career-long distance of 187-03. Dunbar also established a personal best in the shot put (48-04.75).<\/p>\n Freshman Matt Maldonado was the 49ers’ top finisher in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 1:54.13 for a sixth-place finish. Classmate Raul Arcos was not far behind in eighth at 1:55.79. <\/span>In the 1500m, sophomore Josh Arrieta won his section and placed ninth overall with a lifetime-best 4:00.77, while junior Jacob Ainsworth took 10th, also notching a personal-record 4:01.59.<\/p>\n On the women’s side, junior Missy Barclay was sixth overall in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in a lifetime-best 2 minutes, 14.89 seconds. Senior Ejiro Okoro took 11th with a mark of 2:17.25.<\/p>\n The Beach also had a handful of strong performances in the 3000m as four 49ers established personal records. Freshman Alisia Barajas led the way finishing fourth overall at 10:34.14. Senior Cheryl Bube was sixth (10:42.96), sophomore Veronica Franco took seventh (10:44.93) and Stacey Flores rounded out the quartet in ninth place (10:50.09). <\/p>\n In the sprint events, sophomore Jazmin Brooks finished 12th in the 200-meter dash with a personal-record 25.91, while classmate Amanda Rosencrantz also had a 12th-place performance in the 400m, clocking in with a season-low 58.43.<\/p>\n Long Beach State returns to action next weekend when it competes in the UC Irvine\/Steve Scott Invitational, May 2-3.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
