The 49ers scored two fourth-quarter goals to complete an overtime-forcing comeback, but UCSB locked them down in te extra period to win on Saturday, 8-5. <\/span>Heather McKeon’s goal with 2:51 remaining in the fourth period tied the game.<\/p>\n \n Long Beach State got on the board first, scoring with 4:33 left in the first period as Krizia Cerda converted on a penalty shot after Gillian Morgan did not leave following an exclusion. The Gauchos evened the score with a 6-on-5 goal with 1:27 in the first.<\/p>\n The Gauchos took a 3-2 lead into the half after scoring two more 6-on-5 goals, and the team’s traded goals in the third as UCSB held on to a 4-3 lead.<\/p>\n A fifth 6-on-5 goal, Claire Buchanan’s third on the day put the Gauchos ahead 5-3. The 49ers pulled back one after Meaghan Leonard stuffed in a rebound with 4:30, and then McKeon tied the match to send the game to overtime.<\/p>\n The Gauchos controlled most of the possession in the overtime periods and earned the win with three goals, including two early in the second overtime period.<\/p>\n Long Beach State returns to the Campus Pool for their final regular season game, hosting No. 2 USC at Noon on Sunday, April 19.
