With it being Spring Break (woo!) and all, there aren’t any league games going on in the Moore League this week—however, most teams are still keeping busy, so we’ll bring you periodic updates of how everyone’s doing.<\/p>\n

Millikan Baseball<\/b><\/p>\n
The first-place, no-runs-allowed Rams went 3-2 in their nonleague games this week, including matches in the Anaheim Lions Tournament that everyone <\/i>is playing in.<\/span><\/p>\n It started on the 11th<\/sup> when Millikan pulled out a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Ramona, with two seventh-inning runs. <\/span>Jonathan Singleton was 2-3 with two runs and an RBI and starting pitcher Matthew Clampitt was 2-4 with 2 RBIs to go with a solid performance at the plate, pitching five, allowing two earned runs and striking out a pair.<\/p>\n Monday saw a 6-2 loss to Cypress, before the Rams rebounded with an 11-1 win over Savanna on Tuesday. <\/span>A 7-3 win over Aliso Niguel Tuesday afternoon was a hallmark of the Ram’s scrappy defensive style. <\/span>They gave up 8 hits and committed one error, but still only let Niguel score three, while Millikan turned 8 hits into seven.<\/p>\n They wound up the week with a tough 10-2 loss to the Tesoro Titans yesterday, as Tesoro dinged the Rams for 11 hits and scored in every inning but the first and seventh. <\/span><\/p>\n Millikan’s next game is Tuesday, in the early afternoon against Lakewood to decide first place.<\/p>\n Poly Baseball<\/b><\/p>\n Poly, also in the Anaheim Lions Tournament, opened with a 9-6 loss on Saturday to Pacifica. <\/span>Kevin Nanbara’s 2-4 with 2 RBI performance wasn’t enough to power the ‘Rabbits to a win. <\/span>None of the Poly pitchers seemed to find their footing, as coach Toby Hess utilized five pitchers in seven innings.<\/p>\n They rebounded on Monday with a lot of bat action, trouncing the Magnolia Sentinels 15-4 in a total team performance. <\/span>Ten players knocked out a total of seventeen hits, as Tyler Maxwell pitched a solid game, going 4 innings and giving up three runs and six hits, peanuts compared to Poly’s offensive explosion. <\/span>Maxwell was also 3-5 with three RBIs to help his own cause, Jeff Turley was 2-3, as were Nikko Santos and Terrell Kimbrough, and Daniel Cook was 2-4.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, Poly topped Valencia 9-4, before running into a brick wall against Capo Valley, who beat <\/span>Poly 10-0 in a two-hit shutout.<\/p>\n Poly’s next game is against Cabrillo on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Jordan Baseball<\/b><\/p>\n The Panthers weren’t in the Lions Tourney, but the St. Paul Easter Tournament, where they went 1-3. <\/span><\/p>\n They opened with a 12-0 loss to Bosco, as the Braves gave up just one hit and opened the game by scoring four runs in the first inning. <\/span>On Monday, the Panthers picked up their only win of the week with a 3-2 victory over Norwalk. <\/span>Tuesday and Wednesday saw losses to St. Francis (7-1) and Hueneme (10-5)—Jordan’s next game is on Tuesday at Compton.<\/p>\n
