After a close loss last week, the Vikings’ baseball team may have had a bit of an emotional hangover as they were walloped 13-1 by Riverside City College on Monday. <\/p>\n
The loss dropped Long Beach to 19-13 overall while Riverside snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 14-17.<\/p>\n
Today’s contest was a continuation of February 13’s game that was halted because of rain. Riverside led 3-0 with no outs and runners on first and second base in the top of the fourth inning when play resumed.<\/p>\n
And Riverside continued where it left off, scoring three more runs in the fourth. The Tigers added four runs in the fifth, a single run in the sixth, and closed out the game with two runs in the top of the ninth.<\/p>\n
Long Beach totaled seven hits in the contest and posted its lone run in the bottom of the fourth. Cory Buchheim’s one-out single drove in Trevor Costin for LBCC’s only score.<\/p>\n
Blake Golding (5-3) earned the loss for Long Beach after allowing five runs and five hits over three innings. Randy Guite led LBCC at the plate, going 2 for 3.<\/p>\n
Riverside’s Cory Caruso (2-1) earned the win in relief. He pitched four innings and allowed one runs and five hits. Patrick Johnson went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI to lead the RCC offense.<\/p>\n
