From LBSU reports<\/span><\/p>\n The LBSU women’s water polo team fought hard against nationally-ranked LMU, but ended up with a 9-5 loss to the Lions. <\/span>Branwyn Lee led the 49ers with two goals on the day, and Kristen Stragier had a total of seven saves.<\/p>\n No. 10 Loyola Marymount jumped out to an early lead against the 49ers, outscoring the Beach 5-1 to start the match, as Diana Romero picked up two goals in the opening frame. Trailing 6-1 after the first period, Kristen Stragier stepped up with four saves in the second half, while Lee added a second goal to cut back the lead in the fourth period.<\/p>\n Despite Long Beach State outscoring the Lions 4-3 in the second half, the deficit was too great for the 49ers to overcome.<\/p>\n The team returns to the campus pool on Sunday, to try and get its second home win of the week.
