All seven of the 49ers throwing hammers for the Beach on Friday afternoon at Mt. San Antonio College recorded their personal best distances to start the USC Invitational.<\/p>\n

“It was a very good start to the weekend with all of our athletes setting lifetime bests,” said 49er head coach Andy Sythe.<\/p>\n

Senior Jennifer Onyeagbako was the top finisher for the women with a personal-record 191-09, which was just 1 foot, 8 inches off the school record held by Stephanie Sampson (193-05.00). Freshman Destanie Yarbrough had a good start to her 49er career with a mark of 137-04.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, Colin Dunbar led the way with a toss of 180-04, while senior Kellen Boaz notched a lifetime best 174-08.<\/p>\n

Long Beach State continues action on Saturday at USC’s Loker Stadium. The field events are set to get underway at 9 a.m. with the javelin throw, while the track events will begin with the first section of the women’s 3000-meter run at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n
