Last week, the city’s middle schools met to compete in the All-City Championship meet. <\/span>After a lot of great competition, Monroe was crowned the Division II champion, and Stanford the Division I champion. <\/span><\/p>\n \n Monroe<\/b><\/p>\n The Monroe Tigers were only up by one point on the competition after the field events, but ended up with a 56-point margin of victory after the running events were held. <\/span>The Tigers were led by Miguel Bautista, who took the 800M and 1600M title, while also anchoring the Monroe mile relay team (these middle school athletes are running sub-six, and in a few cases, even sub-five miles!). <\/span>Javon Duong won the long jump, and Amir Bradley won the 100M. <\/span>The 200M and 400M were won by second-place Lindsey’s Daniel Manzo. <\/span>Shot put was taken by Cubberly’s Jonathan Pasillas, and Tincher’s Eugene Pua took the high jump. <\/span><\/p>\n Congrats to all the competitors, but especially coach Julie McCall and her champion Monroe Tigers. Team members include: Tim Adler, Zach Bowers, Amir Bradley, David Carrillo, Alex Duenas, Javon Duong, Kenny Duran, Paul Gamboa, Drake Jasso, Mark Mandujano, Kyle Nicolau, Cody Spencer, Carlos Alas, Ian Baldwin, Miguel Bautista, Jeremiah Goddard, Kevin Labbate, Matt Manning, Nick Miller, Elijah Moody, Jacob Murtishaw, Edward Reyos Del Sol, Braxton Roa, Danny Tompkins, Oscar Zamora, Wesley Baker, James Beggs, Fernando Cruz, Ryan Dorris, Daniel Garcia, Ryan Hare, Evan Hill, Daniel Ramirez, Jordan Wooten, Team Managers Payge Andrews, Melissa Bell, Sarah Jones along with Head Coach Julie McCall.<\/p>\n Stanford (Pictured above)<\/b><\/p>\n At the Division I championships, held under the lights at Lakewood High, the Stanford Hawks took a narrower victory over Hughes, who finished 11 points back. <\/span>They were aided by Hawks Joe Burke, who brought home the title in the 800M and 1600M while also anchoring the winning mile team, Kori Smithwho won the high jump at 5’2″, and their 4x100M relay team. <\/span>Hughes’ Joshua Jackson tossed a 45’4″ shot put to win the event, and Hughes’ Rashad Kennedy posted a rare “triple,” winning the 400M, 200M, and 100M events. <\/span>In the 100M, he and Hill’s David Price crossed the wire at the exact same moment, 11.59 to tie for the win. <\/span>Price also won the long jump with an 18′ effort. <\/span><\/p>\n Congrats to Rick Maxson and the Stanford Hawks.
