From LBSU reports<\/span><\/p>\n In front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Rhodes Tenis Center, Long Beach State evened its record with a 5-2 win over Cal State Northridge. With the win, the 49ers start Big West play with a 1-0 record.<\/p>\n The 49ers welcomed their first clear day at the new Rhodes Tennis Center with a victory based on solid singles play. Long Beach State dropped the doubles point 2-1, but Rachel Manasse and Anais Dallara grabbed a win a No. 3 doubles 8-3 over Onishenko and Paluch 8-3.<\/p>\n Long Beach State took control in singles though, winning five of six to clinch the match. University all-time leading singles winner Hannah Grady was one of two players to blank an opponent, winning at No. 1 6-4, 6-0 while Rachel Manasse also accomplished the second-set feat with a 6-2 6-0 win. Julie Luzar, Anais Dallara and Jessica Weeks also all picked up convincing wins, while Deborah Armstrong fell in a close match with Nina Jawarowski 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.<\/p>\n The Beach will try to go 2-0 in conference play Saturday, playing a rescheduled match with Cal State Fullerton on the road at 10am.
