{"id":4763,"date":"2009-02-08T07:08:00","date_gmt":"2009-02-08T07:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lbpost.com\/articles\/sports\/lbsu-track-posts-eight-individual-wins\/"},"modified":"2009-02-08T07:08:00","modified_gmt":"2009-02-08T07:08:00","slug":"lbsu-track-posts-eight-individual-wins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lbpost.com\/sports\/lbsu-track-posts-eight-individual-wins","title":{"rendered":"LBSU Track Posts Eight Individual Wins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div style='float:left;padding-right:10px;padding-bottom:5px;'><img src='images\/archive\/sports\/photo5918036.jpg' align='left' \/><\/div>\n<p>   <!--StartFragment-->       <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic;\">From LBSU reports<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Long Beach State track and field team had eight  individual first-place finishes to go along with 33 season and lifetime bests  as the men and women competed at the Northern Arizona Team Challenge at JL  Walkup Skydome on Saturday.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">&nbsp; <\/span>The  men&#8217;s team swept the quad meet, defeating Arizona State, Northern Arizona and  Southern Utah. The women, meanwhile, edged both ASU and SUU, but fell to host  NAU. &nbsp;You can see the university&#8217;s full results by<a href=\"http:\/\/longbeachstate.cstv.com\/sports\/c-track\/stats\/2008-2009\/nauteamresults.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> clicking here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&#8220;We came here to improve on our performances from last  weekend and that is definitely what we saw today,&#8221; said 49er head coach  Andy Sythe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Senior Brent Gray was the top finisher in both sprint  events, winning the 60-meter and 200-meter. Gray bettered his school record set  last year in the 60m dash with a mark of 6.75. In the 200m, he clocked in at  20.94, just .01 seconds off his previous lifetime best. Senior Austin Fowler  also had a good day in the sprint events, placing fifth in both the 60m and  200m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Senior Collin Cram was also a double winner as he claimed  the pole vault and long jump. Cram posted the sixth-best mark in school history  at 22-10.50 to win the latter event as the Beach completed a sweep in the long  jump with freshmen Cameron Gillett (22-00.25) and Michael Vaughan (21-11.50)  rounding out the top three.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Sophomore Christopher Lawson finished ahead of the pack in  the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in with the second-fastest mark in 49er history  at 8.16 seconds. Classmate Nimrod Piggee, who won the same event at the  Mountain T&#8217;s last weekend, had a third-place finish with a personal-best time  of 8.31.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Junior Alex Black wrapped up the top performers for the Long  Beach State men, clearing 6-08.00 to win the high jump.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Lawson, Fowler, Piggee and Richard Crawford also combined to  take the top spot in the 4&#215;400 relay. The quartet recorded the fifth-fastest  time in school history at 3:15.44.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">On the women&#8217;s side, freshman BJ Triplett won the 60-meter  dash in 7.8 seconds, ranking her fifth in the LBSU record books. Triplett also  had a fifth-place showing in the 200m (25.65).<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Senior Miia Mobley picked up a first-place finish in the  triple jump with a leap of 39-09.25, which puts her second on the all-time  charts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Senior Katie Crowe was tied for first in the pole vault, but  ended up taking second place in a jump-off with Northern Arizona&#8217;s Jami  Michaud. Classmate Jennifer Onyeagbako, meanwhile, finished second in the shot  put with a toss of 48-01.25. Both Crowe and Onyeagbako recorded personal bests  in their respective events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Long Beach State will return to action next weekend when it  heads to Seattle, Wash., for the Husky Classic from Feb. 14-15.
