The Poly girls’ basketball team is undefeated in league, as expected–but what many might not have expected is that Poly doesn’t seem to be missing a beat, even after losing April Cook and Jasmine Dixon to graduation last season. We’ve also realized that Millikan’s got a great program there, as coach Morgan has once again revamped her offensive scheme to suit her players.  The third thing we’ve realized is that, though nobody (including us) was talking about them before the season started, the Wilson Bruins could be good enough to make a playoff run–after losing their opening two games, the Bruins are on a four-game win streak, and guard Ciarra Ford looks like a force to be reckoned with. <\/p>\n

Wilson @ Millikan on Wednesday, January 28th<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
In their first meeting, which you can read about here<\/a>, Wilson led the CIF no. 3-ranked Millikan Rams for 29 minutes, before letting it slip away in the fourth quarter.  They’re a much-improved team since then, but so are the Rams. Can Millikan’s speed counteract Wilson’s height advantage? We’ll find out on Wednesday.<\/div>\n

Millikan @ Poly on Monday, February 2nd<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
You already know what we’re going to say about this match, that last year Millikan upset Poly on their home court, that this year Poly already beat Millikan (read about it here<\/a>), that the winner will take the Moore League title barring any other upsets, that we’d love to see these teams go head-to-head in the playoffs again…well, yeah, you got us.  That doesn’t change the fact that this is the<\/span> game in the Moore League as far as girls’ basketball is concerned, and looks to be for years to come.<\/div>\n

Jordan and Wilson, barring several upsets, will be the third and fourth-place teams in the league, both guaranteed a spot in the playoffs.  However, the difference between a third-seed draw and a fourth-seed draw is pretty big, and that difference could be decided in this game, unless Wilson knocks off Poly or Millikan. It was a close game until the Bruins took over in the fourth quarter last time (read about it here<\/a>), and we wouldn’t be surprised if this was the tightest game of the second round.<\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
