One week into League play, we know two things: one, we may have been mistaken in not giving more love to the Millikan Rams when we talked about who was going to win the league title this season; and two, this is going to be a great season. Here’s where things stand after a great first week.<\/p>\n
Cabrillo<\/b>—lost to Jordan last Saturday at the Pangos Dream Classic, which counted as a league game, and to Compton in their home opener on Wednesday. <\/span>They had a bye on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n Compton<\/b>—is 7-8 overall, and 1-1 in league after a 63-59 loss to Jordan on their home court Friday evening. <\/span>They’d previously beaten Cabrillo on opening day.<\/span><\/p>\n Jordan<\/b>—The Panthers are expected to compete for the league title, but we haven’t seen them play the cream of the league yet, with wins over Cabrillo and Compton (the latter a 63-59 victory that proved Jordan has the discipline and patience to win a close contest). <\/span>Next week they take that 2-0 record into games against Poly and Wilson.<\/span><\/p>\n Lakewood<\/b>—The Lancers are the youngest team in the league, and were held to just 41 points in their opening game against Poly. <\/span>Then, with an upset win over Millikan on Friday, they proved they can still be a factor—they’re 1-1 after the first week.<\/span><\/p>\n Millikan<\/b>—The Rams are now looking to be the big wild card of this unpredictable season. <\/span>They posted an impressive upset of Wilson<\/a> on opening night, but then took a nine-point lead into the fourth quarter against Lakewood, and still lost their second game. <\/span>At 1-1, they’re dangerous, but will they be consistent enough to compete? <\/span>Next week’s game against Poly may answer that question.<\/span><\/p>\n Poly<\/b>—The Jackrabbits, along with Jordan, are on an inside track for the league title with a 2-0 record, after a 52-41 road win over Lakewood, and a topsy-turvy home debut victory<\/a> over Wilson on Friday, 59-49. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Wilson<\/b>—Nobody would have predicted last weekend that the Bruins, with the league’s top scorer in Mike Wilder, would start winless after the first week, but that’s just what happened after losses to Millikan<\/a> and Poly<\/a>. <\/span>They’ll need to beat Cabrillo on Monday and get up big for a road game against the Jordan Panthers on Friday if they want to stay in the hunt for the title.<\/span><\/p>\n Week One League Standings (Points for\/against for league games)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n\n
