The Beach drops to 1-4 on the season, while the Cougars improve to 4-2.

Long Beach State shot 43.1 percent from the field, but committed 28 turnovers on the evening. Junior Whitney Fields led the way with her second career double-double as she notched 14 points and 11 rebounds. Senior Lynea Williams chipped in a season-high 12 points, while freshman Adelle Walton and junior Ally Wade each added six.

WSU jumped out to a quick start with back-to-back layups by Jazmine Perkins. The 49ers got on the board when Fields hit a jumper at the 18:54 mark. The Cougars then used a 10-2 run to take a 14-4 advantage.

Washington State retained its lead for the remainder half as LBSU was only able to pull within seven after a layup by Courtney Jacob with 5:27 on the clock, but the Cougars closed out the period on a 13-3 spurt to take a 38-22 lead into the break.

The 49ers (44.0 percent) posted a better shooting percentage than WSU (41.0 percent) in the first half, but turnovers proved to be costly as the home team converted 13 points off of 15 LBSU miscues.

The Cougars maintained their double-digit lead throughout the second half as they ran away with the win. The closest the 49ers got in the final 20 minutes was 13 points after a three-pointer by Jacob.

Perkins paced Washington State with a game-high 16 points, while Heather Molzen added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Long Beach State will continue its four-game road swing this Sunday (Dec. 7) when it makes its way to the University of Idaho for a noon (PST) showdown with the Vandals.

The Long Beach State women’s basketball team was unable to snap its two-game losing streak as the 49ers fell to Washington State, 68-50, Friday night in Pullman, WA

[3
["post-5200","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sports","entry
["GET
