Essentially bringing the Moore League’s non-football CIF slate to a close (though I believe individual tennis qualifiers are still in the offings), the Cross Country CIF Finals were held yesterday morning up at Mt. SAC, as two league teams and one individual tried to finish high enough to advance to next week’s state championships.<\/span><\/p>\n

Poly and Wilson’s boys’ teams both ran in the 7:45am race, finishing in twelfth (with 296 points) and sixteenth place (with 361), respectively, both outside of the qualifying field.  <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Following are the Moore League runners’ individual placings and times from the race—the top five individuals not on a qualifying team would advance to State.  <\/span>Edwin Rodriguez was the league’s top finisher, and was only thirty seconds away from qualifying for state in his final CIF run.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the girls’ race at 8:25am, Poly’s Dynasty Gammage tried to qualify for State as an individual—she needed to finish in the top five (of 1,117 runners) of runners not on a qualifying team.  <\/span>Gammage, a sophomore, finished the course in 21st<\/sup> overall with a time of 18:29, just nineteen seconds away from qualifying.  <\/span>The time is a new school record, and Gammage was the fifth-fastest sophomore in the race.<\/span><\/p>\n
