The Vikings opened tournament play with a  thrilling 8-7 overtime win over Ventura. Then in the semifinals, LBCC pulled  out an 8-7 win over South Coast Conference rival Cerritos to snap their 22-game  winning streak and avenge a pair of losses earlier this season. LBCC closed the  tourney with a 10-5 loss to defending state champion Riverside in the SoCal  championship game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">The  Vikings are the South&rsquo;s No. 2 seed for this week&rsquo;s California Community College  Athletic Association Men&rsquo;s Water Polo Championship at Merced College. The state  tournament runs Thursday through Saturday (Nov. 20-22).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">The  Vikings take a 24-7 overall record to Merced and open state championship play  on Thursday at 9 a.m. against North No. 3 Sierra. LBCC returns to the pool on  Friday at noon to take on North No. 1 Santa Rosa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">A  pair of wins would put the Vikings in the championship final on Saturday at  noon. One win would put LBCC in the third-place game scheduled for 9 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">LBCC  went 2-1 this season against Sierra and defeated Santa Rosa in their lone  meeting this year. Overall, the Vikings have compiled a 4-7 record against the  state tournament field (2-1 Sierra, Santa Rosa 1-0, Riverside 0-3, American  River 0-1, Cerritos 1-2).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">Long  Beach looks to capture its fourth state championship overall and first since  2006. Last year, the Vikings finished third. Coaches Chris Oeding and Dave Kasa  have complied six straight final four showings at the state tournament and won  championships in 2003, 2004, and 2006.<b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\"><b>Men<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">The  Long Beach City College men&rsquo;s water polo team will be making its seventh trip  in eight years to the state championships following its second place finish at  the Southern California Regional Championships this past weekend at Golden West  College.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">The  Vikings went 2-1 at the tournament, defeating Cerritos 12-8 in their opening  game, then cruised past Ventura 15-9 in the semifinals before narrowly falling  to Golden West 9-8 in the SoCal final.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">Long  Beach is the South&rsquo;s No. 2 seed for this week&rsquo;s California Community College  Athletic Association Men&rsquo;s Water Polo Championship at Merced College. Overall, the Vikings have compiled a 3-6 record  against the state tournament field this season (0-3 West Valley, 1-0 American  River, 0-3 Golden West, 1-0 Diablo Valley, 1-0 Grossmont).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:\" trebuchet=\"\" ms??=\"\">Long  Beach looks to capture its ninth state championship overall and first since  2006. Coaches Chris Oeding and Dave Kasa are gunning for their third state  title after winning back-to-back state championships in 2005 and 2006.
