We assume you’re aware of the fact that CIF football playoffs begin in a few weeks, but it may have slipped your notice that everything else<\/i><\/span> is about to begin their playoffs. <\/span>Long Beach teams are competing in the first round of all sports, so we’ve grouped the sports together for you into one handy playoff preview\/schedule. <\/span>Enjoy, and get out to these games! <\/span>Of course, as these teams progress, we’ll let you know how they’re doing, and update you with new calendars!<\/span><\/p>\n Cross Country: <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n The first step is preliminary heats, which are going to take place this Saturday, November the 15th<\/sup>. <\/span>Now, they’re taking place at the holy grail of cross country running, up at Mt. San Antonio College, so we’ll forgive you if you don’t make the trek—we’ll have full results up for you anyway. <\/span>But if you’re wondering what time to think good thoughts at your favorite teams, here’s when they’ll be running:<\/span><\/p>\n Girls<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n Millikan and Wilson’s girls’ team, which were fiercely competitive with each other throughout the league schedule, will both be in the same heat, run at 1:45pm. <\/span>Poly’s girls’ team will race in the fourth heat, at 2:35.<\/span><\/p>\n Boys<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n Poly’s boys’ team will run in the afternoon sun, at 3:45. <\/span>Wilson and Lakewood will run in the same heat at 3:15, and Millikan will go at 3:31. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Golf:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Golfers have always been early risers, and so it is that their playoffs are actually already completed. <\/span>We brought you coverage of the individual CIF tourneys last week, and now we can announce the completed results of the CIF Southern Section team regionals. <\/span>Out of 19 teams, Poly placed ninth, led by Lauren Deaderick, who shot 78 on the par-72 Menifee Lakes Country Club course. <\/span>She was followed by the Estoque sisters. <\/span>Wilson also qualified to compete as a team, and finished 18th<\/sup>, led (as always) by Alexis Hayes (who shot a 96) and Alex Hoye (a 97). <\/span>Since neither team qualified for the final round, this concludes the season for all Moore League golfers.<\/span><\/p>\n Girls’ Tennis:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Three Moore League teams qualified for team CIF competition: Lakewood, Wilson, and Poly. <\/span>Poly will play first, in the wild card round on Tuesday. <\/span>They’ll be hosting South Pasadena at 2pm, and playing for the right to play Rancho Alamitos on Thursday, when regular bracket play begins. <\/span>Already guaranteed a spot on that first day of competition are Lakewood and Wilson, who will both host matches at 2pm. <\/span>Lakewood will have the winner of a Tuesday wild card match between Downey and Nipomo, and Wilson will receive Upland. <\/span>Should anyone advance from that first round (and it’s likely that at least Lakewood will), they’ll play next this coming Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n Girls’ Volleyball:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Four Moore League teams have moved on to the CIF playoffs, ranked in order: Wilson, Poly, Lakewood, and Millikan. <\/span>On Tuesday, Poly, Lakewood, and Millikan will all be playing first-round matches at 7pm—Wilson has a bye till the second round because they were one of the top four seeds in the bracket. <\/span>Poly will be hosting Esperanza on Tuesday, Lakewood will be visiting Redondo, and Millikan will be at Temescal Canyon. <\/span>On Thursday, Wilson will host the winner of Tuesday’s match between Temecula Valley and Palos Verdes. <\/span>It’s worth noting in this enormous bracket that there is almost no chance of any of these teams facing each other, unless the Jackrabbits, Lancers, or Rams pull off an enormous upset.<\/span><\/p>\n Boys’ Water Polo:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Wilson, Poly, and Millikan (in that order) qualified for postseason CIF action. <\/span>Wilson, as the top seed, has a bye until Thursday, when they’ll host the winner of El Modena and Norco. <\/span>In the first round, on Tuesday, Poly and Millikan are both hosting matches at 3:15pm, as the Jackrabbits will face Servite, and
