Today, we bring you a link<\/a> from 5th<\/sup> District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske’s blog (what, you didn’t know city councilpeople could blog?).  <\/span>In the entry, she talks about seeing LB native Billie Jean King speak at the recent Governor’s Women’s Conference.  <\/span>In her acceptance speech for the Minerva award (in Greece it’s the Athena award), King talked about how Long Beach helped launch her career, the city’s parks, and her Poly Pride.  <\/span>If you think that’s pretty awesome—you’re right.<\/span><\/p>\n
