It was a tough final day at the UC Berkeley Nike Invitational for Long Beach State as Lisa Sutton lost in the White Draw’s Finals to Nienke Strijbis of Saint Mary’s 6-4, 6-1 and Rachel Manasse finished off her first collegiate tournament in the Blue Draw’s Semifinals with a 7-6, 6-0 loss to Rachael Dillon from the host Golden Bears. <\/span>The doubles tandem of Lisa Sutton and Deborah Armstrong reached the finals of the Blue Draw, losing to Arizona State’s Ashlee Brown and Sianna Simmons 9-8, after dropping the tiebreaker by scoring just three points.<\/span><\/p>\n Freshman Julie Luzar picked up the win in the White Consolation Semifinals over Arizona State’s Amanda Martin, 6-1, 3-6, 10-4, as the finals were not played due to an injury to her opponent. <\/span>In the consolation bracket, two players reached the semifinals, all losing in three sets, Deborah Armstrong, who lost 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 to Fresno State’s Laura Pola in the Blue Consolation Semifinals and No. 64 Hannah Grady who lost 6-2, 6-7 and 10-8 in the Gold Consolation Semifinals to Arizona’s Sarah Landsman.<\/span><\/p>\n Grady will have only 48 hours to rest, as she is scheduled to compete in the Riviera Championships in Pacific Palisades starting on Tuesday against Georgia’s junior Naoko Ueshima, a second team All-SEC pick last season.<\/span><\/p>\n SINGLES MATCHES ON SUNDAY<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Nienke Strijbis, Saint Mary’s def.
