<\/span><\/p>\n From LBSU reports<\/p>\n A new era began for Long Beach State men’s golf and new head coach Bill Poutre as the 49ers opened up the fall season at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational.<\/span> <\/span><\/span>The 49ers completed day one in 14th place with a score of 604.<\/span> <\/span><\/span>LBSU shot an opening round of 307 on Saturday morning at the Eisenhower Golf Club Blue Course and came back in the second round to improve by 10 shots to finish with a 297.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Long Beach State shot a 293 on the final round of the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational to improve by four shots as the 49ers moved up in the standings to finish in 12th place. LBSU finished the three-round tournament with a total score of 897 (+33). Colorado State won the team title with a tournament record of 837 (-27), followed by UNLV with an 848 (-16).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Ricky Montanez was the top individual for the 49ers to finish tied for 34th as he shot a 1-under 71 on Sunday morning to finish with a total of 221 . Kevin Lim also recorded a 71 in the final round to finish tied for 45th with a 224. Austin Love tied for 60th, followed by Kevin Roy tied for 68th and Michael Drake tied for 71st. Bryce Hanstad of Colorado State won the individual medalist by two shots as he finished with an 11-under 205.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n “We improved each day and each round,” said 49er Head Coach Bill Poutre. “We were 14 shots better from the first round to the last and we did few things better today.
