Here’s what to watch for the next few days when you’re not watching Olympic Handball—which you totally should.  <\/span>Obviously with 3,600 hours of coverage over the 16 days the games are open, there’s plenty you should watch—why watch these games?  <\/span>Because Long Beach Olympians will be competing in them.  <\/span>Reason enough?  <\/span>Obviously, the big games won’t come till a little later, but you might as well get to know these faces before they’re standing on the medal stand…<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Women’s Volleyball<\/span><\/b>, a team that includes two LBSU grads, will play a live game against <\/span>Japan<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> Saturday morning at <\/span>10:30am<\/span><\/st1:time>, on NBC. <\/span><\/p>\n

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh<\/span><\/b> begin defense of their 2004 gold medal tonight, in the primetime 8-midnight block on NBC, as they face off against a Japanese duo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Men’s Volleyball, <\/span><\/b>a squad with three LBSU alums, plays its first game live against <\/span>Venezuela<\/span><\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, from <\/span>12:30am-2:30am<\/span><\/st1:time>, also on NBC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Men’s Water Polo<\/span><\/b>, which features a slew of Long Beach athletes including star Tony Azevedo (and four other LB high school grads), plays its first game on Sunday, the final game of the day, against China.  <\/span>The game will be available for view in its entirety online, at <\/span>1:40<\/span><\/st1:time> in the morning…yep.  <\/span>You’ll be able to view it later (though not live) if you want.  <\/span>The women’s team will get going early next week.<\/span><\/p>\n
