8:00am | <\/strong>Both the men’s and women’s Long Beach City College (LBCC) soccer teams are facing challenges in the upcoming Southern California Regionals Playoffs.<\/p>\n

The LBBC men\u2019s soccer team has received an at-large bid into the playoffs, earnign them the No. 12 seed. They will travel to face No. 5 East Los Angeles College in a first-round match on November 19 at 6:00pm.<\/p>\n

The Vikings closed out the regular season tied for fourth place in the South Coast Conference at 4-6-4  and enter the playoffs with a 7-7-6 overall record. Long Beach returns to the postseason after a two-year absence. Under co-head coaches Cameron Beaulac and Pat Noyes, LBCC has reached the playoffs in six of the past eight seasons.<\/p>\n

The winner of Saturday\u2019s game will advance to face either No. 4 Oxnard or No. 13 Allan Hancock in a second-round game on November 22. Three wins in the SoCal playoffs will advance Long Beach to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Soccer State Championships on November 2 and 4 at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento.<\/p>\n

On the women\u2019s team, they have earned the No. 13 seed for the playoffs and will travel to face No. 4 Santiago Canyon College in a first-round match on the same day as the men’s at a time to be determined.<\/p>\n

The Vikings closed out the regular season by taking second place in an always tough South Coast Conference with a 9-4-1 record. LBCC enters the postseason with a 13-6-1 overall record. Long Beach makes its second straight playoff appearance under co-head coaches Alex Camargo and Melissa Douglas and has qualified for the postseason in 12 of the past 13 years. Long Beach has won a California Community College record six state championships overall (1997, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2005).<\/p>\n
