There might not be a better night of basketball in Long Beach this regular season than the one hosted at Long Beach Poly tonight beginning at 5 p.m. There\u2019s a doubleheader between the boys’ and girls’ teams of Poly and Millikan. All four teams are currently an undefeated 5-0 in the Moore League.<\/p>\n

Tonight is the end of the first round of league play, so whoever wins these games will be in the driver\u2019s seat for the Moore League championship. Certainly, the Jackrabbits would be the prohibitive favorites in both games, since they\u2019re both riding decade-long league title streaks. But there\u2019s also reason to think both teams could be vulnerable, too.<\/p>\n

In the boys\u2019 game, which will start roughly around 6:30 p.m., the Poly boys beat Compton by just one point earlier this season, a point less than Millikan beat them by. The Jackrabbits are fresh off a road win over Wilson that saw superstar Peyton Watson\u2019s little brother, sophomore Chris Watson, collect his first scholarship offer, from Cal.<\/p>\n

In the girls’ game, Poly will be without the services of star player Kalaya Buggs, who continues to recover from a sprained ankle. Poly has already beaten the third and fourth place teams in the league this week without her, taking down Lakewood and Wilson by 20+ points.<\/p>\n

The Millikan girls come into the game as an undefeated 16-0 on the season, but Poly hasn\u2019t lost a league game since 2008. The team to beat them, of course, was Millikan, in a game played at Poly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
