5:15pm |<\/strong> Long Beach State Junior Anais Dallara has been named First-Team All-Big West in both singles and doubles for women’s tennis, highlighting five 49ers that earned first or second-team honors as voted on by the coaches and announced by the Big West. <\/font><\/p>\n


The conference<\/span> champion 49ers led the league with three singles selections on the first or second team.<\/p>\n

Dallara was selected as a first-team selection in singles for the second year in a row after leading the 49ers with a 16-7 record in dual matches, playing all 23 at No. 1 for the 49ers. Dallara has now been a Big West singles selection during all three years that she has played at Long Beach State.<\/font>
She was joined by two 49ers who earned second-team All-Big West honors. Sophomore Klaudia Malenovska, despite competing in just 13 matches from March 12 on, merited selection based on an outstanding 11-2 record in dual match play, with one loss coming against a ranked opponent from Notre Dame and the other coming due to a default following an injury.
<\/font>The pair was joined by senior Deborah Armstrong. Armstrong was named to the All-Big West team for the fourth time in her career, earning her second Second-Team All-Big West selection to go along with an Honorable Mention nod in 2008 and 2010, respectively. <\/p>\n

With three singles in the top two teams, Long Beach State led all schools in the conference.<\/p>\n

In doubles, the 49ers had two teams picked, again having both selected among the first and second-teams. Dallara and Malenovska completed a double selection, earning First-Team All-Big West Doubles honors to go along with their singles consideration. The pair posted an 8-4 record in dual doubles competition and took only a single loss in Big West play.<\/p>\n

The pair was joined by Rachel Manasse and Jaklin Alawi, who were both named All-Big West for the second time. Alawi and Manasse earned Second-Team All-Big West honors after going undefeated in Big West play, including a pair of wins in the Big West Tournament to help bring the program to its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance. <\/font><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

The 49ers play No. 27 Pepperdine in the first round of the tournament, which begins May 13, at Stanford.<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
