Out on the gridiron last weekend, the Moore League went through the gauntlet yet again and emerged with a few extra losses, but perhaps more experience heading into opening week of league play in a few days.<\/p>\n
Only Lakewood and Wilson won their games, with the Lancers defeating Leuzinger by a score of 44-0 and Wilson taking a thrilling 28-23 victory over visiting Paramount. After a rough preseason schedule for all local teams, only undefeated Lakewood will head into Moore League play with an overall record over .500. The win kept them in their #3 spot in the PAC-5 Division rankings, just behind #1 Mission Viejo and #2 Servite.<\/p>\n
With their 37-7 loss to that same Mission Viejo team, the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits dropped to the edge of the polls at #10 and will head into their Moore League opener at Jordan with an even 2-2 record. Jordan had been among the teams to watch at the start of the season, but have dropped their last two games to stand at 1-2. <\/p>\n
Similarly, many kept an eye on Compton early in the season as the Tarbabes looked to have regained their high-scoring ways. But back-to-back losses have knocked them out of the PAC-5 discussion for now, and they’ll get a chance to make some noise right away by hosting Lakewood to open the league schedule. Cabrillo and Millikan, each 1-3, get a clean slate and a chance to get something going against each other this Friday.<\/p>\n
