11:00am |<\/strong> The Lakewood High football team moved into the #3 ranking in the extremely competitive PAC-5 Division when polls were released on Monday, leapfrogging Long Beach Poly who fell from #3 to #7 after a 32-7 loss to St. Bonaventure last week.<\/p>\n

Mission Viejo remains at #1 with Servite at #2.<\/p>\n

Lakewood, now the highest-ranked team in the Moore League, moved up one spot after the Lancers’ 27-7 victory over St. John Bosco last week. Coming off their Moore League championship season, every local coach named Lakewood as the favorite to repeat this year.<\/p>\n

After their first loss of the season, the road doesn’t get any easier for Long Beach Poly. The Jackrabbits scheduled a grueling preseason and will face highly-regarded Narbonne this week and the PAC-5 Division’s top-ranked team, Mission Viejo, after that.<\/p>\n

Two other Moore League teams didn’t make the Top Ten but were noted, with the Compton Tarbabes earning a mention for the second consecutive week after a 27-14 victory over Compton Centennial and Long Beach Jordan with new head coach Thomas Barnes, even though the Panthers had a bye last week and did not play. Apparently their opening week victory over Los Angeles Jordan was impressive enough to warrant a mention among the best of the PAC-5 Division.<\/p>\n
