Long Beach police say they seized nearly 50 pounds of illegal fireworks, along with guns and drugs while they served two search warrants Tuesday.

Police say the first search was at the F&G Mini Mart at Pine Avenue and 14th Street in the Washington neighborhood. There, they found methamphetamine, ammunition, a firearm and fireworks, according to the LBPD.

They seized the items and then continued the operation by searching a home in the 1900 block of Arlington Street in West Long Beach.

There, police say they seized nearly 50 pounds of illegal fireworks, a “significant amount” of narcotics that appeared to be intended for sale, several firearms—including a ghost gun—ammunition, and magazines. Ghost guns are unserialized firearms that are difficult for law enforcement to trace.

Police say they also arrested a 45-year-old Long Beach resident named Genaro Cazarez Zuniga. According to police records, Zuniga was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded weapon, and possession of an assault weapon.

He was released on his own recognizance Wednesday morning after having his bail set at zero dollars, inmate records show.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect that the home where police seized fireworks was in West Long Beach, not North Long Beach.
