Authorities are investigating if foul play was involved after a dead body was found floating near the Queen Mary Monday afternoon.

The body was discovered by a recreational boater who stayed with the body until Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded with police at about 3:52 p.m., said Marine Safety Chief Gonzalo Medina.

The body was that of a man, according to Long Beach police spokeswoman Arantxa Chavarria who said police were called to the 500 block of Queens Way at about 4 p.m.

“The preliminary assessment by the detectives indicate there are no obvious signs of trauma,” she said. “The Coroner’s Office will be handling the investigation at this time.”
