Long Beach Playhouse is staging the Agatha Christie whodunnit “Go Back for Murder.”

According to our theater reviewer, it’s worth seeing. It’s Christie’s adaptation of her 1942 book “Five Little Pigs” featuring detective Hercule Poirot, but in this version, a woman named Carla takes on the role of Poirot as she tries to clear her mother’s name years after she was convicted of murdering her husband.

Check out the full preview here. The play runs from Jan. 10 to Feb. 7 at the Long Beach Playhouse, 5021 E. Anaheim St., with shows Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. For tickets and information, visit LBPlayhouse.org or call the box office at 562-494-1014.

Stand against human trafficking (Saturday, Jan. 10)

North Long Beach residents have been raising the alarm about a scourge of human trafficking and visible prostitution in their neighborhoods — something the City Council says it’s moving to address.

On Saturday from noon to 3 p.m., community members are taking things into their own hands as well. They’re planning a walk to show unity and spread resources starting at Long Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard at noon.

As organizers put it:

The goal of this walk is to bring community awareness to ongoing concerns about human trafficking activity along Long Beach Boulevard. The community has been vocal about these issues for a long time, particularly due to the proximity to an elementary school. Residents and parents have expressed serious concerns about the exposure to children, neighborhood safety, and the wellbeing of trafficking victims

You can get more info by calling 562-999-6606. Organizers are asking everyone to wear blue as a show of unity.

DJs, vinyl shopping and good drinks (Sunday, Jan. 11)

Beachwood Brewing and Distilling in Bixby Knolls is hosting its first Vinyl Shop and Social from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Dig through crates from vinyl vendors, hang with fellow music lovers, and enjoy an afternoon soundtracked by live vinyl sets from host & DJ Quatre Cinq (and other special DJ guests!),” organizers say. “Shop records, sip something good, chat with vendors, and settle into Sunday vibes.”

They promise local vinyl vendors like @RecordboxLB and @djdennisowens.

And there are more vinyl Sundays coming up. Check out the schedule here. Beachwood Brewing and Distilling is at 3630 Atlantic Ave.

THE WIZ at Segerstrom Center for the Arts (Tuesday, Jan. 13 to Thursday, Jan. 15) – sponsored

The Tony® Award-winning Best Musical that took the world by storm is back!

THE WIZ returns “home” to stages across America in an all-new tour, direct from Broadway.

The Baltimore Sun raves “Powerhouse performances. Stunning choreography. Visionary sets” and the Chicago Sun-Times proclaims THE WIZ is “An eye-popping and high-intensity revival!”

This groundbreaking twist on The Wizard of Oz changed the face of Broadway — from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock, and 70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world.

With direction by Schele Williams (The Notebook, revival of Disney’s Aida), choreography by JaQuel Knight (Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies,” Black Is King) and additional material by Tony-nominated and Emmy-nominated writer and TV host Amber Ruffin (The Amber Ruffin Show, Late Night with Seth Meyers), this dynamite infusion of ballet, jazz, and modern pop brings a whole new groove to easing on down the road.  Everybody rejoice!

Don’t miss the Wiz! Tickets and information here.
