Annual plane pull at Long Beach Airport (Saturday, Sept. 12)

Could you pull a plane? Whether or not you can, you can cheer on individuals, or teams of athletes and disability advocates, as they attempt to yank an airplane 12 feet down a runway at Long Beach Airport. Every year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run hosts this spectacle to support the Special Olympics of Southern California. The event and parking are free, but there is a ticketed “Kid Zone” section where young ones can demonstrate their own feats of strength. See here for more information on the annual plane pull.

Cheer on the runners and walkers, or hurry up and sign up to run here. Participants get a T-shirt, two tacos, a cold beer, a medal and are greeted with live music and entertainment at the finish line. The race starts at 8:00 a.m.
