When The Good Bar and Eatery, a skate-themed dive bar in the Rose Park neighborhood, opened in 2015, it had a one-of-a-kind film photo booth.

“It was an analogue booth from the 1980s,” said owner Blake Whytock. “Our friend Frank was a photographer and he owned it and operated it. Eventually, we converted it to digital.”

Many Good Bar patrons used the photo booth for graduation and other special occasions, until it suddenly stopped working in December 2025. All that was left was a bucket of photo strips left behind by locals and visitors over the past decade.

That is, until Whytock brought in a custom-made booth from Boothie for his 50th birthday weekend celebration at the bar. “Our patrons love to have a memento from their experience here, and these photos give them that,” Whytock said.

Photo booths are making a big comeback in bars, restaurants, and cafes. In Long Beach, the analog thrill of snapping a strip of photos adds a playful twist while customers wait for their food and drinks.

Here are five Long Beach spots where you can enjoy good food, drinks, and take a photo to remember your visit:

The Good Bar and Eatery

More than just a skate-themed local dive bar, The Good Bar and Eatery is a social space in the Rose Park neighborhood — hosting live bands, karaoke nights, dance parties, stand-up comedians and live NFL and MLB games. During the day, it’s a low-key hangout for a drink and grub, perfect if you’re not into large crowds. The walls are decorated with colourful eccentric skateboard decks and vintage arcade games are scattered around the bar. The Good Bar and Eatery also has a colorful outdoor patio with picnic tables.

By night, locals and new walk-ins fill the tables and bar stools while a game of pool plays in the background. Footage of skateboarders doing jumps and tricks are projected on the walls. If you get the munchies, The Good Bar’s Kitchen offers a variety of artisanal bites, from burgers and salads to hot dogs and snacks like wings, pretzels, and pickled eggs. Taco Tuesdays features a $12 Good Bar bucket margarita as well as tacos with a choice of meat, vegan soyrizo or jackfruit, starting at $3 each. The Boothie photo booth can be found next to the pool table and costs $5 for two photo strips (credit card payment only).

Good Time

A vibey coffee spot nestled in the Zaferia neighborhood, Good Time has created an inclusive LGBTQIA+ community space for hangs, meetings, and events. Their minimalist coffee and tea menu includes seasonal handcrafted caffeinated drinks, as well as a seasonal shrub for non-coffee drinkers. Their breakfast burritos come with crispy potatoes and chipotle aoli and are $10 or less. Good Times serves a selection of natural wines, beers and soda. Tucked among the shelves of wine you’ll see a sign that reads, “Corporate wine still sucks.”

Stepping inside this serene space, you’ll find in-house plants, yellow metal chairs and white brick walls. Good Time also hosts a variety of events like Cumbia Night, where customers can listen to and purchase vinyls from pop-up shops. Customers will also find a curated mini-retail shop and a $1 temporary-tattoo vending machine. In the corner is a photo booth with a bright yellow sign that reads “Photos.” Duck behind the red curtain for $7 photos and catch a glimpse of the collage of left-behind photo strips.

The Hangar Food Hall inside the Long Beach Exchange is an indoor-outdoor food court with 14 food vendors — from Nashville hot chicken-style sandwiches from Jay Bird’s Chicken to specialized onigiris from Tenori. Built as an industrial space in memory of the McDonnell Douglas and Boeing aircraft, the Long Beach Exchange opened in 2019. Large black-and-white photographs of former military aviators, aircraft, and personnel hang inside.

While waiting for your food, head to Vibe of The Moment studios. The studios includes a K-photo booth with four interactive K-Pop themes customers can choose from such as an airport and a washing machine.

Mooney’s Pizza Tavern

Family-owned pizzeria, Mooney’s Pizza Tavern, transports you to the 1990s with retro arcade games, custom vintage white-and-red stained glass lamps hanging above green leather booths and dark wooden tables. Mooney’s opened last year in what was once Huff’s Family Restaurant and has already built a solid fan-base. Their top three pizzas: the double pepperoni, the pineapple with al pastor (pork), and the Fried Eggplant have already built a cult following.

If you’re not in the mood for pizza, Mooney’s offers their Tavern Burger with melted American cheese and “melted” onions. Mooney’s also hosts special events like  a blind tasting for Oktoberfest and a summer burger night collaboration with the local Long Beach food pop-up hamburgernice.

Their photo booth with Mooney’s mascot, “Chef Pepp” can be found next to the entrance to the arcade games and customers can get three fun poses and two photo strips for $7.

“Our restaurant is analogue in many ways; we have no digital menus, our dough takes a long time to ferment, so a photobooth that printed real photos was important to me,” said owner Hal Mooney.
