RonaldHighFiveLARGEThe Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California (RMHCSC) Walk for Kids event will take place this Sunday, April 12 at Shoreline Park for its third year in Long Beach. Thousands will take to the street to walk the non-competitive 5K to benefit the programs of RMHCSC including Ronald McDonald Houses in Loma Linda, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Orange and Pasadena.

Councilwoman Suzie Price will preside over this year’s ceremony in Long Beach. She said in a statement, “It is an honor to participate in the Walk for Kids to raise awareness and funds for the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House. The Long Beach Ronald McDonald House is a vital component in a family’s fight against critical illnesses; providing families with a safe, comfortable home as they focus on healing their loved ones.”

The funds raised for Walk for Kids will contribute a significant amount to the Long Beach Ronald McDonald House’s operating budget, according to the site. The House is asking for supporters to register for a team, join the walk as an individual or donate directly to help them reach their goal. The House opened its doors in 2011 and has provided over 1,765 families (6,758 guests) with support and a safe place to stay while their children underwent treatment for critical illnesses or injuries at local hospitals.

Registration for the Walk for Kids on Sunday opens at 7:00AM with a celebration at 7:30AM and the walk starts at 8:00AM. For more information about the Walk for Kids and to donate, click here.
