District 4 Pizza had its soft opening within the former Ecco’s Pizza location in Los Altos on Monday, unveiling a newly remodeled interior with an arcade and a fresh mural.
Co-owners of nearby eatery Kennedy’s, Chef Ryan McIntyre and Ian Moston, paired with Nevi Maddy to open the new pizza spot. Chef Matthew Kirven-Deleon has been working on the restaurant’s menu and developing the 48-hour fermented pizza dough recipe.

The restaurant will serve Chicago and New York style pizza, with 14 signature pizzas and the option to customize beyond that, especially for gluten-free customers who can choose their own toppings.
“He has two really special pizzas, there’s a pizza called the elote pizza and the pistachio pizza that seems to be pretty popular,” said general manager Hiro Zeoli.
The elote pizza comes with roasted corn, pollo asada, cilantro crème, parmesan, chili powder and fresh lime. All pizzas come in either 14 or 18 inch round pizzas or as a square pizza.
The pistachio has rosemary, red onions, parmesan and pistachios, a concept first popularized by Chris Bianco of Pizzeria Bianco.
The shop joins a growing number of pizza spots popping up all over the city. MangiaFoglie and L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele are also anticipated to open soon.
“I think everybody’s just tired of that, like traditional, like plain pepperoni and cheese pizza. So everybody’s kind of trying to tweak it,” Zeoli said. “Here, there’s so many add ons you can do. [People] want to pick and choose what they want.”
The restaurant aims to have a family friendly atmosphere where Little League and club sport teams can come in and spend time after practice. A wall was broken down when District 4 took over the space to expand the arcade portion of the shop.
If pizza isn’t the craving of the moment, beer and wine can be enjoyed with one of their salads, sandwiches, or classic Italian mains like pasta dishes or chicken parmesan.
“There’s this amazing like appetizer called ‘Whipp It Good,’ which is a ricotta cheese with arugula on bread and that’s been really popular,” Zeoli said.
The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
District 4 Pizza is located at 2123 N. Bellflower Blvd.
