A new pop-up art gallery set to spotlight women, queer and BIPOC artists is opening up this summer in Long Beach.
To artist Emily Babette, home is more of a “state of mind or a place you carry inside yourself,” according to the artist.
“There are wealthy people in Long Beach, but they don’t buy art in Long Beach,” said LBCG member Michiel Daniel.
“Our shop is all about good/welcoming vibes, loud music, straight forward coffee, and local art,” said Wolf’s Brew owner Bryer Garcia.
For Long Beach artist Cory Bilicko, a box of abandoned or somehow lost photographs prompted him to ask with sadness why they were’t on some grandmother’s wall somewhere. Purchasing a dozen, he knew they would provide him with something, but what that something would be was still up in the air.
Long Beach’s Phone Booth Gallery is celebrating its sixth year in operation with a special exhibition entitled 6X6.
