10:00am | Get your medulla oblongatas ready, kids, because the 9th annual National Elementary School Spelling Bee will take place this weekend and the winner will take home a $1,000 prize.

The competition is open to students between 3rd and 5th grade, and will be held this Sunday, March 14, at the Bay Shore Church auditorium at 5100 E. The Toledo in Long Beach. The entry fee is $30 per student before the event on Sunday. Entry information and additional details can be found on this website. There are also some helpful tools like frequently asked questions, preparation advice, and a list of the 100 most commonly mispelled words.

The bee is hosted by local activist Justin Rudd and his Community Action Team (CAT) non-profit organization. CAT also hosts an adult spelling bee each April.

P.S. Kudos to the first person who can point out the misspelled word in this article.
