A residential fire in West Long Beach Friday afternoon left one person displaced, authorities said.
The fire broke out just before 4 p.m. at the American Gold Star Manor, located in the 3000 block of Gold Star Drive, authorities said.
When firefighters arrived, they witnessed light smoke coming from one of the units in the area and discovered a kitchen fire, Long Beach Fire Department Cpt. Jack Crabtree said.
The fire, which was confined to the kitchen area, was quickly extinguished but the extent of the smoke damage was enough to displace one resident, Crabtree said.
No injuries were reported, and the Red Cross arrived to provide resources to the displaced resident, Crabtree said.
The investigation is ongoing.
