Information about the recent murders of Heather Broadus and Eduardo Rodriguez could be worth $10,000.
10:35am | As authorities continue to hunt for clues in two recent murder cases, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a $10,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of person(s) responsible for the killings of 27-year old Heather Broadus and 14-year old Eduardo Rodriguez.
Broadus, of La Mirada, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds early on the morning of August 30. Rodriguez was killed on the evening of November 17 when he answered a knock at the door of his home and was shot multiple times.
Police are still trying to learn more about the killings of both victims, and ask that anyone with information contact the Long Beach Police Department Homicide Detail at 562.570.7244. You can also provide anonymous tips at longbeach.gov.police, although anonymous tipsters are not eligible for rewards.
Police say that Broadus was found lying face down near the 300 block of East 56th Street around 6:30am on August 30, and it appears that she may have been shot the previous evening. A passerby saw the body and called 9-1-1, and authorities have not established a motive at this time.
The death of Rodriguez shook his rather quiet neighborhood a few weeks ago, when the boy was playing video games in his home and went to answer a knock at the door. When he opened the door, police say that a shooter fired his weapon through a metal security screen door and “probably could not tell exactly who he was shooting at.” An adult relative of Rodriguez’s has gang ties, though he no longer lives at the residence. Witnesses say that two male suspects walked away from the shooting and left in a waiting car.
Again, anyone with information is urged to call 562.570.7244.
