12:15pm | The Long Beach Press Club will hold its final debate this evening between candidates in next week’s upcoming election (click here, here or here for coverage of past debates).

Tonight’s debate will be between candidates for the City Council seat in the 1st District, with incumbent Robert Garcia challenged by neighborhood activist and president of the Wilmore City Heritage Association (WCHA) Jana Shields. Both ran for the seat when it was open last April along with three other candidates.

Also present will be Mayoral candidate Stevie Merino (click here to read a January lbpost.com article about Merino). Incumbent Bob Foster declined to debate Merino and so the 21-year old student will answer questions from local journalists and the audience.

The debates will be followed by live music and food and drink on the rooftop of Bouchee’s Bistro at Smooth’s. The event begins at 7:00pm and the party will last until about 11:00pm.
