Two men were arrested Thursday night on suspicion of possessing drugs, and a number of other crimes following a traffic stop just east of Long Beach City College, police said.

Long Beach resident Johnnie Lee Brown III, 31, was arrested around 8:07 p.m. in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Junipero Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Police say Brown was driving near Rotary Centennial Park when officers pulled him over for having expired car registration.

Officers explained to Brown that his vehicle would have to be towed and upon conducting an inventory search, discovered Brown had been driving with a gun and large quantities of drugs and cash, according to the LBPD. Police subsequently arrested Brown and served a search warrant on his home in the 2200 block of Cedar Avenue in Long Beach’s Wrigley area.

Brown was booked in Long Beach City Jail for one count each: possession of a controlled substance for sale, intent to transport or sell a controlled substance, being a felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited possession of ammunition and carrying a loaded handgun that he was not the registered owner of, according to the LBPD. His bail was set at $100,000.

During the search of Brown’s home, LBPD officers arrested 28-year-old Davon Robinson. Police say he was in possession of a loaded firearm and had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Two firearms and ammunition were also located inside the home.

Robinson was booked on one count of possession of a firearm, one count of illegally being in possession of ammunition and one count of false impersonation, along with the other outstanding warrants, according to the LBPD. His bail was set at $170,000.
