The Long Beach Post and Choura Events continue our tradition of recognizing the unrecognized with our inaugural 30 Women to Watch event taking place September 22 at The Grand.

As with our 40 Under 40 event, we believe that in order to build a distinct, dynamic community, we must recognize those who contribute to its betterment–and this cannot exclude women, a vital and essential force of people who should be heralded for their achievements.

Of course, this is a given. But what is not a given is the fact that womanhood no longer fits a single mold, holds onto one definition, or is characterized by an exclusive entity: it is simultaneously the mother and the businesswoman, the traditionalist and the revolutionary. Multifaceted, dynamic, and ever-evolving, it is time to recognize all types of women, all of whom have bettered the world, solidified our community, and helped us progress into a better future.

And we are asking you, our readers, to help us determine the women who deserve to and should be recognized.

Nominations are officially open to the public and entry forms can be found here. If you are a 40 Under 40 winner, you are unfortunately exempt from being nominated; however, you are not exempt from nominating and we deeply encourage you to participate in nominating those women you feel are altering the Long Beach-scape.

Here’s to Long Beach–and the women who have helped create it.
