A 4.7-magnitude earthquake (originally classified as a 5.0) struck the greater Los Angeles area, including Long Beach, around 8:40pm on Sunday night, according to the US Geological Survey.  The USGS is now reporting that the quake was centered one mile east of Lennox, only about 18 miles or so from Long Beach.  More information will be posted as we learn it.

The Long Beach Disaster Management Bureau is currently assessing the city, but has so far had no reports of damage.

If you’d forgotten, this marks the fourth earthquake to hit Long Beach in the past year.

Personally, I was standing outside and actually felt the ground shake beneath my feet, which took away the carefree ride that I typically get from tremors like this one.  Unsettling, but frankly, this is the area we all chose to live in and sometimes we have to put up with it.  Where were you?
