A person was killed Tuesday night in a crash involving at least two vehicles near a freeway off-ramp in Norwalk.

The crash occurred a little after 8:40 p.m. on Rosecrans Avenue near an off-ramp for the southbound 605 Freeway, according to a watch commander at the sheriff’s Norwalk Station.

A person was pronounced dead at the scene, she said. Firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the location did not take anyone to a hospital, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.

Although the investigation is being handled by the sheriff’s Norwalk Station, the California Highway Patrol said witnesses reported to them that a Cadillac Escalade ran a red light and crashed into a Honda Accord. A man inside the Honda was then reportedly ejected from the car.

At 9:46 p.m. the CHP closed off the Rosecrans Avenue off-ramp from the 605 Freeway and the Rosecrans Avenue off-ramp from the eastbound 105 Freeway while the crash was under investigation, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.
