Money from Federal funds and Proposition 1B will pay $2.7 million to seismically retrofit the 6th Street off-ramp over Shoreline Drive, a release from Supervisor Don Knabe’s office said. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved the decision yesterday. Construction will begin next month and is expected to finish in July, 2009.
“By retrofitting this bridge, both the drivers and pedestrians who use the bridge will benefit by crossing a safer bridge,” said Supervisor Knabe in the press release.
Federal funding under the Federal Highway Bridge Program will finance 88.53% of the project, while the remaining 11.47% will be accounted for by Proposition 1B. Any additional funding needed will be provided by the Fourth Supervisorial District’s Road Construction Program.
